Industry 4.0 Future of Work

The Department of Computer Application, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management and Nagpur HR Shapers jointly organized a Conclave themed "Future of Work" comprising Panel Discussions of eminent speakers and over 60 participants working as HR professionals in different companies. Prof. P. Dwaramwar gave the opening remarks by welcoming the HR fraternity and focused on the need to prepare our students for 2030 by emphasizing on the need of Learn, Unlearn and Evolve. He talked about the need of such platforms for fruitful interaction and networking of industry professionals and academia. Mr. Ashish Gakrey, Founder of HR Shapers thanked RCOEM and Department of Computer Application for providing a suitable platform for the HR meet. He talked of the need to organize such informal gatherings which can help to provide solutions to real-time issues faced by the industry. He focused on how such panel discussions outside the formal settings can help to visualize out of the box solutions.







Industry Visit:

Global Logic, Mihan SEZ, Nagpur

An Industrial visit to Global Logic company situated in MIHAN, Nagpur was organized for the MCA Sem-II students on the 6th of February 2024 afternoon. All 28 students who come under the fast learner's category from both Div-1 & 2 along with Dr. Preeti Voditel, HoD of the Department of Computer Application, and two faculties namely, Dr. Satyajit Uparkar and Prof. Vishnu Vardhan had gone to Global Logic as per pre-intimated schedule. After a brief verification and subsequently provided with Guest ID cards to the visitors, Mr. Ajay Chaudhary, AVP – Engineering of Global Logic had welcomed the faculty and students with a warm gesture. He started the addressing by mentioning different countries where Global Logic has its presence spanning from USA, Europe, India and in 30 different countries with a workforce of more than 30,000 altogether. In his address, Mr. Ajay informed the students about the different kinds of projects they do at Global Logic along with technical advances they made in varied domains ranging from Chip to Cloud services with respect to their client projects.




He highlighted how Global Logic became one of the pioneer software companies in providing customized services to their clients in different technologies and how they protect the IP rights of their client projects by maintaining a complete non-invasive environment through different teams. Mr. Ajay explained that Global Logic is mainly into Product Engineering services rather than other service-oriented sector companies. He actively interacted with students and answered some of their queries related to the technologies and briefed how Global Logic is solving research and medical related problems etc. Then Mr. Hrushikesh Zadgaokar, Solution Architect took over the session with some student queries and explained how the customization and accelerator software are being developed with respect to client needs at Global Logic. He answered student queries with a few examples and also explained how the company is offering a great platform with respect to it.




After the briefing sessions by them a tour of their facilities was conducted on their premises. Mr. Kamal Kaushik, VR Technologist had show-cased how the offline store experience can be improvised a lot better by using the Augmented Reality software. Also, Mr. Praful Mishra, AR-VR Technologist demonstrated the Virtual Reality and mixed Reality capabilities by showcasing through web-based cloud application and explained how the virtual interactions have been organized for their freshers during the Covid time and for acquainting other premises facilities.













After the entourage of premises was completed, Mr. Ajay Chaudhary motivated students by giving inputs on what they should do for better future prospects from the placement point of view. He also stressed students for giving preference for acquiring good foundation knowledge, over the other varied domain experience from the student point of view, by saying the expertise could be acquired later on when they join industry and situations will arise to master those things. Later on, group photographs were taken at the Global Logic selfie point on the office premises. The entire visit was supported by Mr. Sanjay Gawande and Mr. Dhananjay Mankar from Admin and Facility Support of Global Logic.




Dr. Preeti Voditel had asked for internship opportunities in the company for MCA students of RCOEM, to which Mr. Ajay had positively responded by saying that a one-year internship would be difficult with respect to the company's policies, but 6 months internship and further placements can be worked out accordingly. At the culmination, guests thanked everyone for the support extended for this visit. With that note and after a two and half hour enriched experience, the students and faculty of RCOEM left the Global Logic premises with a positive impact on their minds and in the hope of a better collaboration with the company in future.



TORNA Software, Nagpur

MCA Final Year batch of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management visited Torana Inc. R&D Center at IT Park, Nagpur on 13th May 2023. Prof. Satyajit Uparkar, T&P Officer for the MCA department, along with Dr. Sachin Upadhye, Assistant Professor, led the company visit for 45 students. The teachers and students were welcomed by Ms. Shubhada Jambhekar, Manager (HR Operations) and CISO, Torana Inc. The visit started with Shubhada Jambhekar showing the server room to the students. She explained the specifications and exact purpose of the servers that are used for testing Torana Inc., proprietary softwares, following which Ms. Shubhada Jambhekar gave a presentation on the company profile and company culture. She covered the entire story of Torana as well as iCEDQ, Torana's software which has an esteemed client list including some of the Fortune 500 companies in the USA. After that, Mr. Vipul Bhange, Senior Software Developer, gave a technical presentation on the topic 'Microservices'. The presentation was detailed. It covered various aspects of Microservices including the comparison with Monolithic software architecture, advantages, and scenarios in which Microservices architecture can be implemented. Finally, there was a Q&A round, in which the Torana team answered students' queries. In the end, Prof. Satyajit Uparkar thanked the Torana Inc. team for a well-organized visit. The feedback was given by the MCA students on seven parameters including Server room Demonstration, Presentation on Work culture, Technical Session, Time Management, Q&A session, Hospitality, and Overall rating of the visit. The students' response was excellent, which indicates a great success of this visit.







RTTC-BSNL, Nagpur

The Department of Computer Application had organized a one-day, local industrial visit to RTTC, BSNL, Nagpur, on 20th January 2017. The students of the MCA department, IV Semester visited the Regional Telecom Training Centre of BSNL under the guidance of Prof. Mohini Upasani and Prof. Vishnu Vardhan Budati. Mr. N.N. Pillewar, SDE, and his team welcomed the students and staff of the department, at RTTC, BSNL. A session on "An overview of R.T.T.C, BSNL '' highlighting the company profile was conducted by Mr. N. N. Pillewar. Mrs. V. Naval gave a brief overview of Network Architecture during the session on "Computer Networks". The students were acquainted with knowledge of networking through parallel sessions on network switching, broadband, and networking equipment conducted by Mr. N.B. Jinturkar, Mrs. R. Patil, and Mr. G. P. Konde. A special visit to the BTS section was also conducted in which the Wireless communication, time sharing and working of 2G and 3G spectrums were explored. At the end, Mr. N.N. Pillewar, SDE, conducted the concluding session, where the student gave the visit feedback. The students and the faculty members shared their views with the team. A future training program on Communication Technology was also discussed.




HCL Training Program

Project Sunshine-Cloud Native Database, under the HCL Training Program, attempts to motivate the bright students of MCA to get exposed to the cutting-edge technology being used in the industry. The Cloud Native Database: One DB module of 32 hours, offered by HCL Software Academy was floated as Industry offered elective lab in the MCA Sem III curriculum.




National Network Security Championship

The Department of Computer Application organized a National-level workshop on networking namely the "National Network Security Championship" organized by Network Bulls in coordination with IIT- Kanpur on 5th and 6th October 2015. It was a two-day workshop for all MCA Students. The workshop focused on networking topics such as the ISO-OSI Model, Subnetting and VLSM, IPS, IPv6, Switching and Routing, and also covered hands-on WireShark and Packet Tracer demonstrations. Workshop was delivered by Cisco Certified Professionals. Based on the Workshop Mega Competition of NNSC-2016 was conducted. In this competition, 13 students were selected for the final round of NNSC-2016 which was conducted by IIT Kanpur. NNSC provided certificates to the participants and winners. Dr. P. S. Voditel was the convener of the workshop and Dr. S. D. Upadhye and Prof. S. S. Uparkar were the Faculty Coordinators of the workshop.
