The School of Management at Ramdeobaba University hosted its Orientation Program 2024, marking the beginning of a new academic journey for the incoming batch. The event commenced with an Inaugural Function led by Dr. Chandan Vichoray, Director of the School of Management, who delivered the opening remarks. Dr. Vichoray provided a comprehensive overview of Ramdeobaba University and the School of Management, highlighting the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.
Following the inaugural address, Dr. Vichoray introduced the esteemed faculty members of the School of Management, emphasizing their expertise and dedication to nurturing future leaders.
Next, Dr. Gayathri Band, Assistant Professor at SOM, briefed the students on Examination & Internal Assessment procedures, the National Academic Depository (ABC ID), and an overview of the Semester I subjects. This session equipped students with vital information on academic requirements and expectations.
Prof. Rijuta Joshi, Assistant Professor at SOM, provided an insightful introduction to the Training and Placement Department and the Student Placement Cell, underscoring the university’s robust support for student career development.
Dr. Devyani Banode, Joint Secretary of the Student Development Cell, then briefed students on the college’s Discipline & Code of Conduct, ensuring that the new students understood the values and standards upheld by the university.
Mr. Vishal Uttamchandani, Vice-President of the Student Development Cell, addressed the gathering, introducing the Student Development Council and its role in fostering student engagement and leadership.
The program concluded with an address by Ms. Esha Muley and Mr. Labhesh Petkar, members of the Student Placement Cell, who shared insights into the cell's functions and its pivotal role in student career progression.

Keynote Address:
Dr. CA Rejinder Singh Rawal, a distinguished economist and financial expert, graced the event as the chief guest. In his keynote address, Dr. Rawal shed light on various aspects of the Interim Budget 2024, emphasizing its implications on the economy, businesses, and individuals. He provided valuable insights into the government's fiscal policies, expenditure priorities, and revenue projections.
A panel of experts comprising renowned economists, financial analysts, and policymakers engaged in a dynamic discussion on the key provisions of the Interim Budget 2024. The panel deliberated on topics such as taxation reforms, infrastructure development, healthcare initiatives, and social welfare schemes.
The highlight of the event was the interactive Q&A session where students and teachers enthusiastically posed thought-provoking questions to Dr. Rawal and other panelists. Dr. Rawal patiently addressed each query, offering comprehensive explanations and expert opinions. The resounding success of Gyansarovar and Kshitij, our flagship academic and non-academic events held on January 18th, 19th, and 20th, stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the Student Development Cell and the collaborative spirit fostered within our academic community.
Gyansarovar commenced with thought-provoking guest lectures from industry leaders, exploring the theme "Rise of AI: Re-Imagining the Future of Management." The power-packed sessions not only expanded attendees' knowledge but also sparked engaging discussions, setting the tone for the days to follow.
The first day saw the riveting 'Analyse to Rise,' a data collection and analysis competition that brought a buzz of excitement to the campus. 'Between the Lines' challenged participants with case studies and required them to present solutions creatively through skits. 'Marketing Masters' and 'Auction Frenzy' showcased strategic prowess, culminating in an atmosphere of fun, excitement, and learning.
Transitioning seamlessly into Kshitij, the response to promotional efforts was overwhelming, necessitating participation limits within a week. The events on January 20th showcased diverse talents and competencies.
The Box Cricket League dominated Kshitij, spanning two days and featuring intense competition among 20+ teams vying for the coveted trophy. 'Scavenger Loot' kicked off the day, offering an hour of exhilarating fun and timing challenges. 'Hunarbaaz' witnessed a showcase of talent, with nearly 30% of entries coming from outside colleges, adding a broader artistic dimension to the day.
'Rangbaazi' celebrated creativity, transforming traditional brushes into tools for artistic expression. The resulting artworks were a sight to behold, making it challenging to determine the best among them. The day concluded with 'Mindful Tug,' a unique twist on the traditional tug of war, testing both mental and physical prowess.
In retrospect, Gyansarovar and Kshitij exemplified a perfect blend of fun, excitement, and learning. The dedication of the organizing team, coupled with the enthusiastic participation of students, made these events a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on our academic community.
Led by the diligent coordination of Dr. Kanak Wadhwani, the SDC coordinator, and with invaluable support from MBA coordinator Dr. Gayathri Band and HOD Dr. Rupesh Pais, the events unfolded seamlessly. The culmination of efforts from faculty members and enthusiastic participation from students and teams propelled these events to new heights.
Department of Management Technology (DMT), Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur organized an Induction Program for the newly admitted students of Master of Business Administration (MBA). The program was organised to welcome and orient the students for the academic session 2023-24. It was presided by Dr. Rajesh Pande, Principal, RCOEM while Mr. Narendra Kumar, GM- HRD, WCL- Nagpur was the chief guest.
Welcoming the students, Dr. Rupesh Pais, Head- DMT urged them to take small steps towards their goal, so as to experience a bright future. He also stressed upon the importance of encashing the opportunities and extracting the best out of it. Mr. Narendra Kumar in his keynote address envisioned the students about entrepreneurship, encouraging them to be the employment creators rather than employment seekers. He also shared his views on the importance of teamwork and the crucial role a leader plays.
This was followed by the presidential address by Dr. Pande wherein he apprised the students about the glorious tradition of the college and enthusiastically encouraged them to follow the noble values of discipline and contribute towards nation building. Stressing upon the importance of management, he opined that managers are in no way behind technocrats and that they can and are leading from the front. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sunita Dhote, Assistant Professor- DMT.
In the succeeding session, the students were introduced to the faculties, were made aware about the rules, code of conduct, examination & assessment pattern, GEMS, Student Forum and other academic essentials. Dr. Gayathri Band- MBA Co-ordinator, Dr. Sunita Dhote- Student forum co-ordinator and Dr. Kanak Wadwani- Student forum co-ordinator, took efforts for the successful conduction of the program.

Nagpur, 16 th & 17 th March, 2024- A pioneering two-day certificate course on labor legislation was organized by the Vidarbha Industries Association HRD Forum and the Quality Circle Forum of India, Centre of Human Excellence, RCOEM, with the goal of equipping upcoming HR professionals with essential knowledge. Took place on March 16 and 17, this full-day program was a lighthouse of knowledge for students exploring the complexities of HR specialization. It provided a thorough grasp of labor laws from seasoned professionals in the field.
The program's enormous impact was set in motion by Dr. Avinash Acharya, Senior Manager of MSED, during its inaugural session. Dr. Acharya expounded on the subtleties of wage and trade union rules, highlighting the importance of key pieces of legislation such as the Trade Union Act of 1926, the Payment of Wages Act of 1936, and the Minimum Wages Act of 1948. After this insightful talk, attendees had the honour of learning from Mr. Sanjay Deo, the renowned CEO of Wise HR Manager, whose presentation covered the complex web of labor regulations and the ensuing Industrial Disputes Act.
The first day culminated in an intellectually interesting discussion facilitated by CS (Dr.) Shantanu Jog, a renowned expert in corporate law and human resources consulting. Dr. Jog's well-informed talk covered important areas of employment terms and conditions, going into laws including the Contract Labour Act of 1970 and the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act of 1946.
Mr. A.B. Kamble, Retd. Dy. Director, Industrial Health & Safety, gave a compelling presentation at the start of the second day. He clarified the important aspects of the Factories Act of 1948 and provided priceless insights into industrial health and safety procedures. After this informative talk, Mr. Manish Wankar, a Manager of HR & Admin at Bira 91, gave a really useful lecture on social security regulations. He explained the Employee's Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, as well as the Employee's State Insurance Act, 1948.
An enriching session presented by Dr. Suresh Pandilwar, AGM, HR and IR, Indorama, marked the program's climax. The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, and the Employees' Compensation Act, 1952, were covered in detail in Dr. Pandilwar's insightful talk, which captured the comprehensive knowledge of labour regulations needed to navigate the ever-changing HR environment.
This two-day certificate course's overwhelming success is a result of the cooperative efforts and steadfast support of notable figures from both academia and business.
