RCOEM Students Holds wining Position at IAHR SI YPN Hackathon 2026

Students from the B. Tech Final Year, Department of Mechanical Engineering of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Nagpur, has secured the 1stposition at the prestigious National Level Hackathon –IAHR YPN SI Chapter 2026 organized by IAHR organization and conducted by Department of Ocean Engineering of IIT Madras.

The two days offline Hackathon was held on19th and21st February 2026. Secured 1st position among the selected teams across India in the Grand finale through anchallenging 3 stage selection process.

RCOEM’s winning team MECH DES-X, comprising Rajat D. Moon, Rohan A. Gurharikar, and Ronit U. Chavan demonstrated an innovative design idea of tetrapods which can withstand under cyclone-scale hydrodynamic forces, minimise environmental impacts, and foster marine biodiversity an effective solution for the boundaries of coastal region areas. Recognizing their outstanding performance, the team MECH DES-X has received the award of cash prize ₹75,000.

The team worked under the guidance of Dr. Vishal V. Shukla, Dean School of Engineering Sciences, RBU whose mentorship and technical insights played a crucial role in refining the project. In addition, the second-year (Batch 2028) team of the Civil Engineering Department secured the runner-up position in a floating solar plant project. The team comprised Ishan Gupta, Rupam Jeevan Tajne, Shantanu, and Vasundhara. The Civil team was mentored by Dr. Laxmi Gangwani. The students expressed their sincere gratitude to the management and administration of RCOEM for their unwavering support, constant encouragement, and proactive guidance, which played a pivotal role in their successful achievement.
