Lateral Entry Admissions (Direct Second Year after Diploma) and University to University Transfer (from other Universities to RBU)

  • Admissions are open for lateral entry to second year B. Tech. programmes. Candidates with a Diploma in Engineering /Technology/BTech First year from any other university or B. Sc. (Computer Science/ IT/Electronics) from a recognised university in the relevant branch are eligible to apply.

Admission Process for Direct Second Year B.Tech. 2026-27

Step1

  • A candidate will be eligible to apply if she/he has completed Diplomafrom an AICTE or Central/State government-approved institution OR /BTech First year from any other recognised university.
  • Application form fee is Rs. 1000/- which is neither refundable nor transferable under any circumstances.

Step2

  • Select appropriate eligibility criteria (Diploma branch/ First Year Engineering Branch)

Step3

  • A provisional seat will be offered based on the merit, branch preference (only for Diploma holders) and availability of seats taken together.
  • The candidate will be communicated via email about the seat offered to him / her.

a) University to University Transfer

RBU Offers admissions to various second year Undergraduate programmes across various streams. It can be a great opportunity for aspirants who wish to take admission at RBU by transferring from another University at end of second year to RBU.

  • The candidates will be offered program based on the availability of vacant seats.
  • Candidates can fill out the University Transfer form available at the online application portal of RBU. The paid application fee is non-refundable.
  • The admission offers will be based on merit of First year scores and the cut off percentile of RBU for the particular program for Second Year Admissions.
  • The application can be considered for Second Year admission at RBU based on equivalence of the subjects as well as the syllabus which the candidate has studied during the First Year and the subjects and syllabus of RBU for the First Year.
  • The RBU equivalence committee’s decision will be final for offering the Second Year University Transfer Admission.
  • If the candidate has not attached the Result for First-Year & copy of the syllabus of the previous university, the application will not be considered for further admission process.
  • All matters of dispute will be subject to the legal jurisdiction of Nagpur, Maharashtra only.

Please note for University Transfers:

If admitted for the Second Year, the candidate must submit the following documents to the RBU within 10 days from the date of confirmation of admission:

  1. The Original Leaving / Transfer Certificate issued by the previous Institution /University
  2. Migration Certificate issued by your Previous University.
  3. Attested copy of First-Year Result along with Transcripts – Basic eligibility: Passed with no backlog in the examinations.
  4. A copy of Aadhar card & Permanent address proof.

b) Diploma Holder for Direct Second Year B.Tech Admissions.

Eligibility for B. Tech (Lateral Entry to Second Year)

Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry)-

Engineering /Technology

(3 Years duration)

 

For Maharashtra State Candidature Candidate and All

India Candidature Candidate. –

The candidate, –

(i) should be a citizen of India;

(ii) should have passed minimum three years or two years

(Lateral Entry) Diploma Course in Engineering and Technology with at least fifty per cent. marks (at least forty-five per cent. marks in case of Candidates of Reserved categories, Economically Weaker Sectionand Persons with Disability category belonging to                                Maharashtra State) in appropriate branch of Engineering and Technology from an All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or Central Government or State Government approved Institution or its equivalent;

OR
(iii)Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and passed 10+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject.

(iv) Any other eligibility criteria and requirement declared from time to time by the appropriate authority as defined under the Act.

Important Instructions for Direct Second Year B.Tech. 2026-27

  • A provisional seat will be offered to a candidate who has completed his/her Diploma based on the merit, corresponding branch of Diploma, and availability of seats taken together. Details of the seat offered will be communicated to the said candidate on his/her registered email id.
  • A candidate who is offered a provisional seat needs to pay a requisite amount on or before the last date as mentioned in the admission schedule (i.e. deadline), to secure the offered seat.
  • Candidates who do not pay the requisite amount as per the deadline will lose his/her claim on the offered seat during that round.
  • The schedule of admissions may change under unavoidable circumstances or as per directive or instructions from admitting authorities of RBU. Under such situations, the revised schedule will be updated on the website of the college.
  • Admissions to Direct Second Year after Diploma (Lateral Entry) programs shall be governed by rules prescribed by the competent authority from time to time.

Documents required For Diploma Holder

  • Offer Letter issued by RBU for admission to Direct Second Year B. Tech. in Academic year 2025-26
  • Mark list for All the semesters of Diploma or Equivalent examination
  • Mark list for S.S.C. or Equivalent examination
  • Leaving Certificate from the last attended institution
  • Caste Certificate, Caste Validity if candidate belongs to reserve category under SC/ST/OBC /VJ-NT
  • Aadhaar Card, Two passport size Photographs of the candidate
  • Maharashtra State Domicile Certificate
  • Indian Nationality Certificate (If not mentioned on the Leaving Certificate)
  • Gap Certificate/ Affidavit (if Diploma passed before prior to Academic Year 2024-25)
  • Equivalence Certificate / Migration Certificate of Concern Board (if student passed Diploma from other than Maharashtra Board/Autonomous Institute)
