About the Department
Chemistry department is teaching Environmental Science, Engineering Chemistry and other branch specific courses in first/second semester of B. Tech. Faculties from the Chemistry Department also teaching Environmental Sciences Course in Third / Fourth Semester of B. Tech. Department also offers different Open Electives Courses based on latest technological advancements and advanced fields of Chemistry. The basic objectives of these courses are to develop the necessary skills and abilities to succeed in engineering education. The emphasis is given to knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles of Chemistry and its applications in industry, environment and social context. The course content is based on strengthening the fundamental concepts of Chemistry at the atomic, electronic and molecular level for all engineering branches. This knowledge base and its application in various engineering fields can aid in contributing to technological advancement.
Infrastructure
Faculties of the department are actively engaged in research and other important assignments of the Institute. The areas of specialization and research interest of the faculty members are Nanoscience, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Physical, Polymer, Material Science and Environmental Chemistry. The faculty members have published research papers in the SCI/Web of Science/Scopus Indexed journals as well as Scopus-indexed conference proceedings

Dr. Sanjogta Meshram
Head of Department
Dr. Sanjogta Meshram holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry (2002) from Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, specializing in Organic Synthetic Chemistry. She also holds a B.Ed. degree and has qualified the State Eligibility Test (SET). She earned her doctoral degree in Organic Chemistry and brings over 21 years of rich teaching experience to her academic career.
Dr. Meshram has actively contributed to the field through numerous research papers published in reputed national and international journals, along with several patents to her credit. She has presented her work at various national and international conferences and has participated in numerous workshops and symposium. Her research excellence was recently recognized with an Appreciation Award for presenting a research paper at the International Analytical Science Congress 2024,
She is a life member of professional bodies such as the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and the Indian Society of Analytical Scientists (ISAS). She recently authored a book chapter titled “Wildlife and Contaminants” in the book Science of Environment, published by Scieng Publications.
