The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) consistently strives to ensure that newly admitted first-year students feel welcomed, supported, and comfortable in their new academic environment. To ease the transition into college life, the SRC has implemented a structured Mentorship Program tailored specifically for first-year students.

Objectives of the Mentorship Program

• To guide and support first-year students during their initial days in college.
• To create a bridge between students and the administration.
• To provide updated information about academic schedules, rules, and campus life.
• To ensure first-year students are protected from unacceptable behaviour, particularly ragging.

Program Structure

• Each first-year class is assigned 1-2 student mentors from the SRC.
• Mentors visit their respective classes on a specific day as per the availability (At least once in a month).
• These visits involve interactive sessions where mentors address students’ queries, concerns, and needs.
• Mentors provide information about:
  • College rules and regulations.
  • Academic structure and curriculum.
  • Examination patterns and evaluation.
  • Campus facilities and student services.
  • Clubs, events, and extracurricular activities.

Role of the Mentors

• Mentors serve as approachable, friendly, and reliable points of contact for new students.
• They ensure a ragging-free, secure, and supportive environment.
• Mentors help in identifying and resolving students’ problems efficiently.
• They regularly communicate student concerns to the Director Students’ Welfare, who takes prompt and effective action to resolve them.

Accessibility and Support

• Mentors are approachable to the assigned students for one-on-one interactions.
• Students are encouraged to contact their mentors anytime for academic or personal support.

Program Outcome
