The Art Club was established on 5 August 2022.

The art club is a group of individuals who share an interest in creating, discussing, and appreciating various forms of art. This club often meets regularly to engage in artistic activities, such as drawing, painting, sculpting, or even digital art. Every month, 2-3 Sundays meets are scheduled. It is a great way to connect with fellow artists and nurture your passion for the arts.

Art club provide a supportive and collaborative environment for members to explore their creative talents, learn new techniques, and showcase their artwork. The club carries out the activities with the help of student coordinators who are guided by the mentor faculty of the club Prof. Lokesh Heda and Dr. Yoginee Pethe.

Sketch meets throughout the year

This year, we hosted several Sketch Meets — a space where students came together to sketch, share ideas, and grow as artists.

To keep things fresh and inspiring, we explored different locations like the peaceful Baal Udyan, scenic Ambazari Garden, the elegant Gondwana Club, and a few cozy cafés. Each place brought its own vibe, helping us experiment with different styles — from nature sketching to indoor doodles over coffee.

As the meets became more regular, we decided to make them even more engaging by including a small activity in every session. What made it more fun was that each time, a different member would take charge — coming up with a creative idea and leading that part of the meet. It could be anything from the med sketch prompts to quick art challenges, and it helped everyone get involved in new ways.

Every Sketch Meet stayed relaxed and interactive, with members learning techniques like shading and perspective, giving friendly feedback, and simply enjoying the process together.

Sketch Meets turned into a highlight of our club activities this year —a mix of creativity, connection, and collaboration. And we can’t wait to keep that energy going in the ones ahead!

One of the most special and heart warming Art Club activities this year was “Hobbit Hole” — a creative exchange with a fun twist!

Each member was secretly assigned a random name from the club (like a Secret Santa!), and their task was to design a personalized sketchbook cover for that person. The catch? Only the creator knew who they were designing for —the final receiver had no idea who made theirs!

Everyone poured their heart into making something meaningful and beautiful, reflecting the personality or vibe they imagined for their mystery friend. When the day finally came, we all gathered to open the sketch books one by one. It was filled with smiles, surprises, and a lot of love for art and each other.

Hobbit Hole wasn’t just about designing sketch books —it was about thoughtful creativity, bonding, and celebrating the uniqueness of every artist in the club.

As part of the university’s Gyanodaya Induction Program, the Art Club conducted an orientation session aimed at introducing first-year students to the creative and cultural opportunities available on campus. The session commenced with a formal presentation highlighting the mission and objectives of the Art Club, along with an overview of its year-round activities. Students were informed about the club’s active involvement in major college events, particularly Pratishruti, where the club contributes extensively through stage design, installations, exhibitions, and thematic art displays. The introduction was supported by a visual showcase of past projects, helping students understand the impact of art in shaping the cultural ethos of the university.

To encourage participation and foster engagement among the new batch, the orientation included interactive activities designed to break the ice and spark creative thinking. One of the key activities was Pictionary, a team-based drawing game that required quick illustration and word association, promoting both communication and artistic expression. The session also featured short creative tasks and group-based art challenges that allowed students to interact in a relaxed, collaborative setting. These activities were carefully curated to ensure inclusivity, providing an enjoyable experience regardless of participants’ prior exposure to art.

The Art Club’s contribution to Gyanodaya was met with enthusiastic response, setting a positive tone for the students’ journey at the institution. The orientation session not only introduced the club’s offerings but also created an early opportunity for students to become involved in extracurricular initiatives. Several participants expressed interest in joining the club, and many continued to engage in subsequent club events throughout the academic year. By integrating creativity and community spirit into the induction process, the Art Club successfully played its role info stering a welcoming and culturally vibrant environment for all new entrants.

The Art Club of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management plays a central role in the visual and aesthetic execution of Pratishruti, the university’s premier cultural fest. Among its key responsibilities is the conceptualization and creation of the event’s primary stage backdrop, which serves as the visual anchor for the festival. The process is both creative and technical—beginning with thematic ideation aligned with the annual festival theme, followed by careful material selection for durability and visual impact. The final execution involves collaboration among club members and student volunteers.

In addition to the main stage, the Art Club is also responsible for decorating multiple venues across the campus. This includes the development of thematic installations, banners, and ambient art displays that contribute to a cohesive festival identity. The club ensures that these decorations are not only artistically expressive but also structurally sound and well-maintained throughout the multi-day event. The visual landscape they curate becomes an immersive environment that enhances the audience’s experience and aligns with the spirit of the fest. Their work transforms ordinary college spaces into dynamic, engaging zones of cultural expression.

Furthermore, the Art Club actively promotes student participation through exhibitions and hands-on workshops. Often working in partnership with other student bodies such as the Students’ Representative Council (SRC),the Art Club engages in large-scale collaborative projects that result in iconic installations and experiential spaces, reinforcing a culture of interdisciplinary creativity and teamwork.
