Policy Document for Scholarship for Students Admitting at Ramdeobaba University (RBU), Nagpur - 2026-27 (to be reviewed every subsequent year)

Part A- For First year students admitting at Ramdeobaba University (RBU), Nagpur
Introduction:

This scholarship policy is designed to attract talented students to pursue higher education at Ramdeobaba University, thereby fostering a culture of academic excellence. Ramdeobaba University (RBU) is committed to provide educational opportunities and financial support to students belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of society. RBU is also focused on recognizing and rewarding students who have demonstrated academic excellence in competitive entrance exams, as well as those who have shown extraordinary performance in fields such as sports and other areas at national and international levels. To encourage outstanding students to pursue higher education, the university is offering fee waiver scholarships for various programs for the academic year 2026-27(to be reviewed every subsequent year). The university encourages all eligible students to take full advantage of these opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship:
EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Scholarship for entire duration of the programme

The objective of the EWS cum Merit-Based Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

In accordance with the Government of Maharashtra GR vide-2022/GR No 91/विशी-4, dated 22nd June 2023, Ramdeobaba University (RBU) will offer a 10% EWS scholarship, covering 50% of academic fees. In the event of a larger number of applicants, the order of merit will be followed for the allocation of the EWS scholarship.

The verification of EWS certificates will be carried out by a specially appointed committee, with the involvement of competent authorities. The EWS scholarship will be awarded after the completion of the full admission process, at the conclusion of all admissions.

  • Eligibility: Students belonging to the EWS category (10% as applicable by Government of Maharashtra of the total intake)
  • Scholarship: 50% of academic fee

Merit Scholarship for entire duration of the programme

RBU extends merit scholarships to students aspiring to undertake PG andUG Programmes. A student is eligible for only one scholarship as applicable. These scholarships are available to students admitted to various programs and are designed to recognize and motivate high-performing students, providing financial support based on their academic performanceing respective entrance exams. The following table outlines the details of the meritorious scholarships for each program

Scholarship for Exceptional Achievements:

This scholarship is offered to students admitted to various programs who have demonstrated extraordinary accomplishments in fields such as national sports championships or other notable achievements at national and international levels. The selection of recipients for this scholarship will be determined by the domain experts, and their decision will be considered by Director Admissions.

  • Eligibility: Students with exceptional achievements at National and International level
  • Scholarship: 50% of academic fee
  • Limit:A maximum of 10 scholarships will be awarded on first come first serve basis

Part B - For Scholarships/Incentives for Meritorious Students (Academic + Co/Extra Curricular) of RCOEM/ Ramdeobaba University (RBU), Nagpur

Introduction:

With effect from the Academic Year 2024–25, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Nagpur has been conferred the status of Ramdeobaba University (RBU), Nagpur progressively. In pursuit of attracting meritorious students and ensuring high-quality admissions, the University has accepted a scholarship framework for students securing strong performance in the qualifying examinations prescribed for admission. Further, with a view to promoting sustained academic excellence, students who may not have availed the scholarship at the time of admission but demonstrate outstanding academic performance subsequently shall also be recognized and rewarded. This policy is designed to incentivize consistent academic achievement and cultivate a culture of excellence across the University.

Scholarship to top performers in Academics:
  1. 5% students based on merit in program as per intake (For minimum student strength 30 or more)
  2. Hostel Toppers (Overall Topper in First, Second and Third Year respectively all UG Programs put together) (Boys/Girls)
Coverage and Execution:
  1. This policy shall be applicable to undergraduate (B.Tech., BBA, BCA) and postgraduate (MBA and MCA) students.
  2. The merit list and scholarship list will be given by Controller of Examination (CoE) and Director Admission, respectively. A final list as per above criteria will be decided by Director Students’ Welfare and will be submitted to Vice Chancellor for final approval
  3. If a student figures in the merit list issued by the Controller of Examinations (CoE) and has already availed the scholarship benefit at the time of admission, the student shall be awarded a Certificate of Appreciation, without any financial incentive. In such case, next eligible candidate will be considered provided that student has secured minimum 9.0 CGPA with all the above criteria

General Terms and Conditions:

Students with any type of scholarship must comply with the following requirements for the continuance of the scholarship in the subsequent academic year. Breach of any one of these conditions shall render them liable to disqualification of the scholarship award and will make the student forfeit the scholarship. In such a case, the student will have to pay the necessary fees for the next academic year.

  • Admission Process:
    • Scholarship eligibility is determined at the time of admission based on the scholarship criteria.
    • Students must meet the specified percentile criteria to be eligible for the merit scholarship.
  • Scholarship Limitations:
    • The scholarship is limited to the academic fee.
    • Merit scholarships are awarded based on the performance in the respective entrance exams, subject to verification of documents.
    • Merit scholarships under categories with restricted caps shall be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • The EWS scholarship will be awarded after the completion of the full admission process, at the conclusion of all admissions*. In the event of a larger number of applicants, the order of merit will be followed for the allocation of the EWS scholarship.
    • In case of any grievance, competent authority decision shall be taken as final

*The authority reserves the right to award the EWS scholarship to meritorious EWS students at the time of admission.

  • Renewal Criteria:

The scholarship is applicable during entire duration of the program, and will be restored in subsequent year, depending on the fulfilment of the conditions stated below:

    • From second year onwards, merit scholarship will continue only if these students’ scores 8.0 CGPA and more in previous semesters.
    • Meritscholarship will be discontinued for students not all clear in first attempt excluding makeup exam.
    • The results of the makeup exam shall not be considered for improving the CGPA in order to retain or qualify for the continuing merit scholarship
    • The awardees’ attendance in any course of study shall not be less than 75%.
    • The student should not have instance of detention, unfair means, indiscipline, or violation of the code of conduct, as prescribed by the University and regulatory authorities.
    • Multiple Entry and Exit – Scholarship Conditions:

The Programs provides for multiple entry and exit options in accordance with (NEP) 2020 and applicable regulatory guidelines. In the event that a student exits the Program due to failure to satisfy the prescribed renewal criteria of the merit scholarship, the student shall be liable to repay the entire scholarship amount disbursed up to the date of such interim exit, as per the university scholarship regulations.

Where a student exits the Program on account of genuine and substantiated personal reasons, the case shall be considered on a case-to-case basis by the competent authority. The competent authority shall determine, at its sole discretion, whether (a) repayment of the scholarship amount is required, and/or (b) the student may be permitted to re-enter the same Program with or without continuation of the scholarship upon re-joining after the interim exit, subject to prevailing policies at the time of re-entry.

  1. No gap/break in semester whatsoever during the entire programme is permissible*.

*Exceptional cases like serious medical conditions, family emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances etc. may be considered with subject to approval of Vice Chancellor

  • Documentation Requirements:
    • Candidates must provide valid documents supporting their performance in the respective entrance exams.
    • The determination of the EWS category shall be made at the time of admission (First Year / Direct Second Year). Submission of a valid EWS certificate at the time of admission is mandatory. For continuation of the EWS category in each subsequent academic year, the candidate shall be required to submit a valid and current EWS certificate for availing the EWS scholarship
    • National/International achievers must submit valid certificates
  • Disbursement:
    • The scholarship amount will be credited directly to the student’s fee account and reflected in the fee structure at the time of admission.
    • The EWS scholarship will be awarded after the completion of the full admission process, at the conclusion of all admissions.
  • Non-Transferability:
    • The scholarship is non-transferable and cannot be combined with any other existing university scholarships or fee waivers.
  • Performance based Scholarship/Incentives from 2nd year onwards:
    • The student is not eligible for the academic scholarship, if he/she has been benefitted with merit scholarship and EWS scholarship at the time of admission.
    • The student should not have instance of detention, unfair means, indiscipline, or violation of the code of conduct, as prescribed by the University and regulatory authorities.
    • The merit ranking shall be determined based on the aggregate of SGPA obtained in the Odd and Even semesters of the previous academic year, as per the University’s credit-based evaluation system.
  • Right to Amend: Ramdeobaba University (RBU) reserves the right to modify or withdraw the scholarship policy at any time without prior notice.
