Insights on Drafting Documents for Employability & Improving Visibility on Professional Social Media Network
The Department of Humanities organized a guest lecture for III Semester B.Tech (IT) students on 25th November 2023. The lecture was delivered by Ms. Shubhada Jambhekar, Senior HR professional, Corporate Soft Skills Trainer, and alumnus of IT Dept. RCOEM. The session was coordinated by Dr. Akanksha Deshpande and attended by 70 students.
Ms. Jambhekar discussed the fundamentals of resume drafting, differentiating between resume drafting and resume building. She shared her own CV for the discussion, giving students a hands-on experience in editing and proofreading. She explained aspects such as job analysis, company analysis, industry analysis, and demonstrated functional and chronological resume formats. The lecture also covered drafting cover letters, cautioned against premature use of ChatGPT for applications, and emphasized professional platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed.com.
The session was interactive and engaging, with students actively participating in discussions and clarifying doubts. It concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Akanksha Deshpande.

Academic Writing & Correspondence Writing Techniques
The Department of Humanities organized a guest lecture on Academic Writing – Correspondence Writing Techniques and Etiquette on 20th November 2023. The online lecture was delivered by Dr. Rosy Matilda, Assistant Professor in English & Guest Faculty, BITS-Pilani, and was attended by over 300 first year B.Tech students.
Prof. Pratishruti Singh Agarwal, Assistant Professor, welcomed the Guest Speaker. Dr. Rosy Matilda focused on the importance of email etiquette for professional communication and explained the features of formal letters. She spoke about different types of emails, the steps involved in writing them, and shared techniques for drafting job inquiry emails and letters. The students gave overwhelmingly positive feedback and expressed their interest in attending more such lectures. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Sonal Trivedi.

Writing Winning Resumes and Cracking Job Interviews
The Department of Humanities organized a guest lecture on Writing Winning Resumes and Cracking Job Interviews on 22nd November 2023. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Satyam Singh Rajput, Director, SSR HR Services, Nagpur and alumnus of RCOEM. The session was attended by approximately 300 students from B.Tech 3rd Semester.
Prof. Pratishruti Singh welcomed the Speaker and students, while Dr. Deepshikha Mehra, HOD, Department of Humanities, felicitated the guest with a memento. Mr. Rajput discussed the fundamentals of resume building, importance of online job platforms such as LinkedIn, Indeed.com and Naukri.com, and demonstrated resume creation using LinkedIn. He shared practical tips on job search and employability skills. The participants gave a positive feedback to the lecture and the session concluded with an open forum and a vote of thanks by Dr. Akanksha Deshpande.

Leveraging LinkedIn for Career growth: Tips for Professionals
The Department of Humanities organized a guest lecture on ‘Leveraging LinkedIn for Career Growth: Tips for Professionals’ on 4th December 2023. The session was conducted by Ms. Sukhada Chaudhary, LinkedIn Trainer and Community Builder, and coordinated by Prof. Jasleen Rihan, Department of Humanities. More than 200 students from B.Tech second year, semester III (CSE and CSE Data Science) attended the lecture.
Ms. Chaudhary highlighted the importance of a well-crafted LinkedIn profile and guided students on strategies to optimize their profiles for recruiters. She emphasized showcasing projects, achievements, and credentials, and discussed methods of effective networking and expanding professional connections. The lecture also included insights on crafting impactful resumes, with guidelines and essential elements to make them stand out.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students clarified queries on LinkedIn optimization and professional networking. A vote of thanks was extended to the speaker.


How to write for Google: Basics of SEO for Content Writing
The Dept. of Humanities organized a guest lecture on How to Write for Google: Basics of SEO for Content Writing on 30th March 2025 in online mode through the Zoom app. The session was conducted by Ms Riya Bhorkar, Content Writer, and coordinated by Ms. Jasleen Rihan, Department of Humanities. A total of 24 students enrolled in the Liberal Arts: Creative and Content Writing course attended the lecture.
The session began with an introduction to SEO and its importance in enhancing online visibility. Ms. Bhorkar explained how SEO principles can be applied to writing and stressed the significance of structuring content strategically for improved search rankings. A major part of the lecture focused on keyword research, introducing different types of keywords, user intent, and the role of keywords in optimizing content. She also demonstrated the use of tools like Google Keyword Planner, Ubersuggest, and SEMrush.
Moving forward, she discussed content creation strategies such as writing effective headlines, maintaining keyword density, ensuring readability, and structuring blog posts with SEO in mind. The lecture also addressed issues that were related to plagiarism, readability scores, and the influence of Google’s algorithms. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, followed by a vote of thanks.


Field Visit to Indian Peace Center
A field visit was arranged by the Department of Humanities on 28th April 2023 for the VI Semester B.E. students enrolled in the open elective course HUT 399-3 Orientation in German Language. The visit took place at India Peace Centre, Rabindranath Tagore marg, civil lines, Nagpur, under the guidance of Ms. Pratishruti Singh Agarwal, Assistant Professor. A total of 26 students participated in the program.
The meeting provided an opportunity for students to interact with German nationals working as interns with India Peace Centre. Mr. Helge, one of the interns, interacted with the students. The discussion included aspects of German culture, lifestyle, and higher education, along with comparisons between India and Germany. Our students tried to speak in German language with Mr. Helge.
The session concluded with the presence of Mr. Angelious Michael, Director, India Peace Centre. The students benefitted from the visit and enjoyed the interaction.

English Camp for the slow learners
Guest lecture on Mastering Content Writing: Types, Tools and Strategies
An informative and interactive lecture on Mastering Content Writing: Types, Tools and Strategies was organized by the Department of Humanities for students of B.Tech. First Year enrolled in Liberal Arts: Creative and Content Writing course on 23rd November 2024. The speaker of the session was Ms. Nikita Sawarkar, Technical Content Writer, Nagpur. The guest lecture offered an insightful and practical understanding of writing for web and digital platforms, providing students with valuable skills. Ms. Jasleen Rihan, Faculty Coordinator, warmly welcomed the Speaker, Ms. Nikita Sawarkar, and the students to the session.

English Camp for the slow learners
Department of Humanities organized three days English Camp for the slow learners on 11th to 13th November 2024. There were one-hour sessions on all three days in which students were intervened on the topic ‘Subject-Verb Agreement’. Mr. Lalit Kane and Ms. Asifa Ebrahim contributed as resource persons as well as session coordinators.

Soft Skills training workshop ‘Campus to Corporate’
A Soft Skills training workshop ‘Campus to Corporate’ was designed to equip 193 engineering students of the first year Computer Science and Engineering on 18 November 2024. Department of Humanities invited Mrs. Arifa Bunglowala, Corporate Trainer, Indore, as the guest speaker for the occasion. The workshop was based on industry-relevant soft skills, enhancing the students’ employability upon graduation. It focused on hands-on training in areas like Resume Writing, Group Discussions, and Interview Techniques, delivered through a mix of lecture, presentation, and activities. This was a seven-hour long workshop.

Nature Camp as Liberal Arts course
Department of Humanities, successfully conducted “Nature Camp” a Liberal Arts course at Bor Tiger Reserve from 13th to 16th November 2024 for 98 students of B.Tech. and BCA first year. During the course, three batches of students underwent various activities to understand the importance of wildlife conservation and the challenges associated with it. Various experts like Shatnaik Bhagwat, Divisional Forest Officer, Gorewada Project, Nagpur; Dr. Narendra Chandewar, Deputy GM, Ecotourism Board, Nagpur and the forest officials of Bor Tiger Reserve shared their experiences on wildlife and environment management with the students. The camp was successfully organized in coordination with Hon. Wildlife Warden, Shri Avinash Londhe. The same camp was also conducted in Pench Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra from 27th to 29th March 2025sem II students of session 2024-25


Nature Walk on Global Forest Day
Students of Nature camp of Department of Humanities attended the Global Forest Day event on 21st March 2025 as organized by Biodiversity Board of Maharashtra State. The students attended the nature walk at Gorewada Biodiversity Park and were guided in the walk by the botanists and bird watchers. The students were presented with certificates of participation at the end of the event

A guest lecture on “Blog and Social Media Writing: Styles, Formats, and Tools”
A guest lecture on “Blog and Social Media Writing: Styles, Formats, and Tools” was conducted on 5th April 2025 at Ramdeobaba University by Department of Humanities. The session, organized by course coordinator Ms. Jasleen Rihan was delivered by Ms. Riya Bhorkar and focused on equipping students with the skills required for effective digital writing across blogs and social media platforms.

Open-air exhibition on ‘Birds of RCOEM
The Department of Humanities, celebrated World Environment Day by organizing an open-air exhibition, ‘Birds of RCOEM’ on 5th June 2023, which was inaugurated by Shri Avinash Londhe, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Nagpur Division. The exhibition included bird photos clicked by students, Mr. Anuj Shrivastva, Mr. Sanskar Motghare and HoD, Humanities – Dr. Deepshikha Mehra
