NAUTANKI – The Drama Club is a theatre group of RCOEM established in 2010. The co-founder of the club is Mr. Raveesh Jaiswal. The club functions under the guidance of Prof. SnehalLaddha, Ms. JasleenRihan, and Prof. Yogesh Thakare Faculty Coordinators – Drama Club. Nautanki actively contributes to cultural events of the college. It has also participated in other college events and various stage events in Nagpur. At present, the club has 101 active members from different branches of all the years. The list of members is attached in the file.

OBJECTIVE

NAUTANKI – The Drama Club of RCOEM aims to create a platform for students who have a passion for the fine art to become better in its aesthetics. Students who wish to shed their inhibitions and excel in their performances as actors, script writers, directors, producers and stage managers should find the club as their platform.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

Nautanki  – The Drama Club of RCOEM has been involved in various activities all around the year. It participates in various inter college competitions and activities which were undertaken during the college academic sessions. We participated/organized following activities in the college:

  • Independence Day Celebration – 15th August, 2024
  • Club Orientation Program – 10th October, 2024
  • Role No. 8 – 11th October, 2024
  • Republic Day Celebration – 26th January, 2025
Independence Day Celebration - 15th August, 2024

Nautanki – The Drama Club performed in the college on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day. The club presented a mime on the theme “Vision of 2047: Viksit Bharat”, celebrating the strength, resilience, and aspirations of Indian women as they envision a “Viksit Bharat” in 2047. Through expressive movements, the mime portrays the journey of women from the freedom struggle to modern-day challenges, shedding light on their role in shaping a progressive and empowered India.

Directed by: Rahul Motwani, Pragati Nagwani, Rishi Parashar.

Mentors:  Kalash Jaiswal, Gargi Singh.

In association with the SRC, the club organized the club orientation program for the new batch of 2024. The event was carried out by Mr. Rahul Motwani, Drama Club Coordinator – SRC, who anchored the event where more than 200 enthusiastic students were present. Information and details of the club’s history, work culture, and performances were discussed with the students. The orientation program was received very well by the first years.

‘Role No.’ is a show organized by the club specially for the new batch of first years of the college. The show is set just before the yearly club auditions, to let the freshers be acquainted with the art of dramatics. The eighth edition of the show was organized at Main Auditorium, on 11th October 2024. The show was held in two slots from 1 to 3pm and 4 to 6pm respectively. It was conducted with the guidance of Ms. JasleenRihan, Prof. Yogesh Thakare and Prof. SnehalLaddha and was arranged by Mr. Rahul Motwani, Drama Club Coordinator – SRC. A total of 4 short plays were performed.

  4. Vidya Vyapaar

On 26th January, the Nautanki – Drama Club presented a captivating mime act titled “Culture and Heritage of India” during the Republic Day celebrations. The performance featured Time as a guide, taking a young boy through India’s rich past. Scenes included classical dance forms like Bharatanatyam, the spiritual grandeur of the Mahakumbh Mela, and a tribute to Rani Laxmi Bai’s bravery during the freedom struggle. Modern India was portrayed through advancements in agriculture and space research, highlighting ISRO’s achievements. The act concluded with a salute to the national flag, evoking patriotism and pride, and was lauded for its creativity and impact.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The club reached the national finals of the stage play competition, Third Bell organized by IIT Bombay, and secured 2nd position. The stage play “Rudrarakh” was written by Harsh Thakur (2nd year) and Rudra Garge (3rd year) and directed by Sumedh Chaudhary (3rd year), Sidhant Shukla (3rd year) and Gargi Singh (3rd year).
