About the Department
The Department of Mathematics is established in 1985. The objective of the Mathematics Department is to provide a strong mathematical foundation that supports engineering education, research, and problem-solving. The Department is mainly responsible for running the Engineering Mathematics courses at the UG level.
Department offers various open electives, courses like Combinatorial Theories which is useful in Cyber Security, Discrete Mathematics and its Application which is useful in Engineering discipline and Statistical Methods for Business and Management which is useful in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Conduct hands-on training on Python based SageMath for mathematical computation and documentation. Department has also introduced an R-software laboratory for Biostatistics students.
There are eleven Assistant Professors in the Mathematics Department, seven of these are Ph.D., three are NET, SET and GATE qualified.
Areas of specialization of the faculty include Fluid Dynamics, Semiring Theory, Group Theory, Statistics, Computational Mathematics, Theory of Relativity and Cosmology, Probability and queuing theory.
