About the Department

Undergraduate Courses: Pertaining to the needs of various engineering disciplines, the department is involved in teaching of various courses,

  • Introduction to Quantum Computing
  • Robotics & AI
  • Semiconductor Physics
  • Physics for Civil Engineering

These courses cover diversified topics such as Quantum Mechanics, Acoustics, Ultrasound, Semiconductors Physics and Nanotechnology, Materials for Biotechnology, Electrical and Mechanical engineering, Oscillations & Waves, Electromagnetic fields.

Open electives : So as to benefit the students from higher learning in physics domain, the department offers open electives to teach Quantum mechanics required by the engineers, Nanotechnology, Solid-state lighting and Quantum computing. 

Ph. D. Program: The department has guided more than 12 Ph. D. research scholars under institute status which is continued under university status now. 04 Ph. D. students are registered under the Ph. D. program. They are doing research broadly on development of Phosphors for various applications.

Value added Course: Apart from this, the department also offers value added courses as Gas sensors technology and ESP 32 for IoT. Department has dedicated computational lab.

Best Practices: Students work on Mathematica software as the analytical tool, for their regular labs and faculties for their research work. Students are also given hands on training on IBM quantum lab for the subject quantum computing. 

Faculty: The department has 08 dedicated faculty members all holding doctoral degree with vast teaching and research experience. Faculties have to their credit more than hundred research publications in reputed internationals journals indexed in SCI, Web of Science and Scopus and also conference presentations at leading institutes.

The department has average Citations of 209.142 and average h-index as 7.142.

Faculties are involved in innovation and have five granted utility patents till date with the organisation. They have research expertise in various domains such as theoretical optics, materials synthesis including optical materials required for luminescence and other materials. Faculties have proficiency in characterization techniques and analytical tools required for research work.
