“Be a lifelong learner and a good human being,” says Swami Raghavendranandaji Maharaj at Gyanodaya 2026
Nagpur, 1 August (Saturday): Ramdeobaba University warmly welcomed its newly admitted students through Gyanodaya 2026. The programme was graced by Swami Raghavendranandaji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math Nagpur, as the Chief Guest, and Padma Shri awardee Satyanarayan Nuwal as the Guest of Honour.
In his inspiring keynote address, Swami Raghavendranandaji Maharaj spoke about the mission of Ramakrishna Math and the timeless values of Swami Vivekananda. He encouraged students to remain “Vivek Jagrut” (spiritually awakened), become lifelong learners, and strive to be good human beings. He said that education should help individuals grow with an open mind rather than become rigid in their thinking. He also urged students to learn from past experiences, read about India’s freedom fighters and great personalities, and set meaningful goals in life. Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he reminded the students, “Not failure, but low aim, is the crime.”
Highlighting the challenges of the AI era, Swamiji stressed the importance of preserving human values alongside technological progress. He shared the five principles inspired by Swami Vivekananda—Atman (Divine Self), Prem (Self-love), Indriya Nigraha (Self-control), Shraddha (Faith), and Shakti (Strength). He concluded by asking students to remember three lifelong virtues: purity, perseverance, and patience.
