ANVESHAN-26: Innovation & Creativity in Electrical Engineering at RBU
A celebration of technological advancements and creative ingenuity with applications of emerging technologies in Defence, Electric Vehicle and AIapplications in Electrical Engineering was witnessed at Anveshan’26 organised by the IEEE PELS & IES Student Joint Chapter and the Electrical Engineering Students’ Association (EESA) of Department of Electrical Engineering at Ramdeobaba University (RBU) Nagpur on 6th and 7th March 2026.
The event featured Defence Exhibition, Project Competition and Technical Quiz. Total 30 teams from various engineering colleges in Vidarbha were shortlisted for the project competition. The key attractions were projects in the area of Human safety, renewable energy, Robotics and automation, IoT, Electric vehicle, all demonstrating students’ technical expertise.
On Day-1, Defence Exhibition was organized for the students of Ramdeobaba University, where in Brigade of Guards Regimental Centre, Cantonment Board, Kamptee showcased modern weapons and surveillance technologies used by the Indian Army. The exhibition featured display of combat weapons such as rifles, grenades, rocket launchers, Exercise Control (EXCON) systems, and other types of advanced defence technologies like drones and unmanned surveillance systems. A fourteen-member team led by Major Ajay Yadao visited the campus and interacted with the students, explaining various aspects of modern defence equipment and their operational use. The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri. Dineshji Agrawal, Member, Shri Ramdeobaba Sarvajanik Samiti.
Intercollegiate Project competition was organised on the second day of Anveshan-26. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Dharmaji Laxmaiah, Deputy General Manager, HBL Engineering Limited, Hyderabad. In his keynote address, Mr. Laxmaiah emphasized on the importance of core engineering with multidisciplinary skillsets and IT tools for addressing the challenges of industry in current global context. He also gave the detail insight of Railway KAVACH project implemented by his company. In the presidential speech, Dr. Sanjay Bodkhe, Registrar RBU, elaborated on the role of AI tools and appreciated the efforts taken by the students in developing the projects. Dr. Uday Mujumdar, HoD, Electrical Department, highlighted the importance of project-based learning and emphasized on how active involvement in developing projects help students to gain the practical knowledge and understanding of engineering concepts. The projects were evaluated by the experts from Industry and Academia.
The event was successfully organized by Mr. Purn Kathalewar, Chairperson of IEEE Student’s chapter, Mr.Parth Londase, President, EESA and other student office-bearers under the guidance of faculty Advisors Dr. V.A. Huchche and Dr. M.V. Palandurkar and all other faculty members of the department. Dr. Rajesh Pande, Vice-Chancellor, RBU and Dr. Manoj Chandak, Principal, RCOEM Nagpur congratulated the department and student organisers for the success of the event.
